Oprah

Did anyone see Oprah yesterday, she's started a "Best Life" challenge. Essentially she and Bob Green are saying you can't live your best life if you're overweight, smoking, unhappy yadda yadda yadda. I've stopped watching Oprah cause I feel like she's gotten too preachy and she's a bit of a know-it-all, it's like just because she's had a bunch of "experts" on her show she thinks that's given her degrees in psychiatry, nutrition, literature and counselling, hello, you're an overpaid TV host, that's all!

Anyways, I was flipping and hit the show at a certain part that actually affected me, one of the girls in the challenge was talking about how she no longer wanted to WASTE TIME WORRYING ABOUT HER WEIGHT. She didn't want to look back and realize that she's spent her 20s and 30s obsessing about her weight, what she ate, what size she wore etc... and she was ready to fix the problems so that she could move on and enjoy life. That really struck a chord with me, I had one of Oprah's "lightbulb moments". I don't want that either. So here I am, recommitting myself to WW, to losing weight, to figuring out what my triggers are so it doesn't come back, and to....well, ME.

No more wasting time thinking and not doing. No more wasting time coming up with excuses. No more wasting time! This is MY year! Who's with me?!

i taped the show but haven't watched it yet, maybe i'll do that this evening... i'm not a daily-oprah fan and only tape things that look interesting but do LOVE her magazine - it has a good mix of articles, discussing a wide range of topics...

i've noticed a recent trend of 'dieting w/out dieting' and a part of me is terrified that i would only gain weight instead of losing... i would also love not having to think about food 24/7 and doing WW you sort of have too (plan things anyway)... i'm toying w/new options right now so we'll see what happens - i want this to be MY year too... :o)
